Can You Put Nail Wraps on Fake Nails?

Nail wraps are a convenient and trendy option for those who want ease and creativity in nail art. They come in different designs, colours, and patterns and you don’t need special skills to apply them.

Additionally, they are versatile, allowing the user to change their nail design frequently without hassle. This versatility makes them equally suitable for use on both natural and artificial nails.

Nail Wraps on Acrylic Nails

Acrylic nails provide a solid surface onto which nail wraps can easily be applied. To apply nail wraps on acrylic nails:

  • First, clean and lightly buff your acrylics to create a grippy surface.
  • Then, choose and trim wraps to match your nail size and shape perfectly.
  • Carefully apply the wraps, smoothing them out and pressing firmly for adhesion.
  • Finally, file off any excess and seal the edges with a top coat for a clean finish.

Nail Wraps on Gel Nails

Similarly to acrylic nails, gel nails provide a suitable surface for nail wraps. However, before applying nail wraps on gel nails, double-check they're fully cured and free from dirt and other residues.

Choose wraps that are specifically compatible with gel nails. To improve adhesion, lightly buff the gel surface, then follow the same application and sealing steps as you would for acrylic nails.

Nail Wraps on Press-On Nails

While nail wraps can be applied to press-on nails, there are a few things to note:

  • Not all press-on nail adhesives may adhere well to the surface of nail wraps.
  • To avoid a rough look, choose a strong adhesive designed explicitly for wraps or with a built-in adhesive backing.
  • Before applying, make sure your press-on nails are squeaky clean and oil-free.
  • Lastly, press firmly to lock in the wrap and seal the edges with a top coat to make it long-lasting.

Other things to consider

While most wraps are designed for natural nails, certain brands offer textured wraps tailored for artificial nails, which can enhance the depth and dimension of your manicure.

To remove, the process is similar for both natural and fake nails. Dip the nails in warm, soapy water and soak them to loosen the wraps, then gently peel them off. Opt for acetone-free nail polish remover for gel or acrylic nails to prevent damage to the artificial extensions. With these tips, you can seamlessly integrate nail wraps into your fake nail routine for stunning and personalized results.

How Long Should You Keep Fake Nails On?

  • Press-ons: 1-2 weeks
  • Gel nails: 2-3 weeks
  • Acrylics: 4-6 weeks

However, remember to always look out for your natural nails. If they feel damaged or uncomfortable, give them a break by removing the extensions immediately.

With proper preparation, nail wraps can be applied on fake nails. Whether you prefer the durability of acrylics, the flexibility of gels, or the convenience of press-ons, nail wraps offer a versatile and creative way to enhance your manicure.
